It seems simple and we may take it for granted sometimes that electric motors provide power to a variety of equipment that is used around the world. Companies all over the globe, in many different industries, use these motors each and every day in their operations. Southeastern Engineering Sales and its partners, Baldor and Teco-Westinghouse, are dedicated to providing world class equipment and services to customers in need.

No matter what you situation or requirements, here at SES we do everything in our power to accommodate your needs in a safe and cost effective manner.

Let’s take a few minutes to look at the different options offered by SES and its partners.

TYPES OF BALDOR & TECO-WESTINGHOUSE MOTORS

When looking for the correct equipment for your specific application, it can be a bit overwhelming and confusing at times due to the endless number of options. Instead of guessing whether or not you are looking at the right motor and hoping that it is of good quality, we will go into further detail on the following motors. You can feel confident knowing that SES will help you make the right choice that is backed with outstanding service. Please take a look at the SES motor product page if you have any questions.

STANDARD & HIGH EFFICIENCY MOTORS

There is a wide range or standard motors that are designed to handle many different scenarios and conditions. Depending on the harshness of the environment, these motors can be constructed of steel or totally enclosed in cast iron. There are also other options to choose from, such as single phase or three phase designs. Please remember that if you have any questions regarding which motor is best for your specific application, you can contact the team at SES at any time.

These motors are also designed to be energy efficient. Manufacturing and selling high efficiency motors has major positive impact on the environment. Not to mention that your company will slash operating costs and ultimately add to your bottom line.

C-FACE MOTORS

The C-Face motor is another common standard mechanical design that SES and its partners have to offer. This type of motor is mounted using a rugged flange that is built into the face of the motor. This flange is typically attached to a gearbox and it also supports the weight of the motor. The C-Face motor design is not practical for larger motors that exceed 20 horsepower. This style is reserved for smaller motor applications.

WASHDOWN MOTORS

The name explains this one pretty well. A Washdown motor is useful in environments where it will be exposed to routine washdowns, chemicals, moisture, and humidity. Because of this, it is important that Baldor and Teco-Westinghouse design their products to handle this type of constant treatment. The performance and reliability of these Washdown motors are top of the line because of the added features such as improved paint systems, inverter spike resistant insulation system, quality drain plugs, and shaft seals. For more detail on these pumps you can take a look at Baldor’s product page.

EXPLOSION PROOF

Explosion proof motors are extremely important to the safety of your operations and your employees. They are intentionally designed to contain an explosion inside of the motor in the unfortunate event that one takes place. This will prevent the explosion from spreading into other machinery nearby and causing a chain reaction, which would ultimately cause a great amount of damage and endanger the lives in the area. In a worst case scenario, you would be having to replace a single motor which is much better than the alternative. Explosion proof motors are commonly used in industries such as chemical manufacturing, oil & gas, forest products, water & waste water, and other industries with explosive environments.

MILL & CHEM DUTY MOTORS

Mill and Chem duty motors fall under the Severe Duty category of motors. They are designed to hold up against harsh industrial processing conditions all while providing great performance and long life. The premium construction of these electric motors help to protect against contamination, moisture, vibration, and demanding operating cycles. SES customers typically use these motors in the following industries.

  • Chemical processing
  • Oil & Gas
  • Forest products
  • Cement & Aggregate
  • Mining
  • Metals
  • Water/Waste water

MOTOR DRIVES & CONTROLLERS

Along with selecting the correct electric motor for your application, SES can assist in choosing the correct drives and controllers. The motor drive and controllers will control the speed, torque, direction, and horsepower of your motor. They are also designed to influence other performance metrics of the equipment. After you adjust the predetermined settings, the drive and controller will govern or control your motor within those parameters. The motor drive and controller may be used to manually or automatically start/stop the motor for example.

Baldor and Teco-Westinghouse offer top quality in this category as well. For more in depth information, you can visit the Teco-Westinghouse drive product page.

APPLICATIONS

As mentioned previously, these different types of electric motors are used in a countless number of scenarios and operations around the world. Some of which include food processing, chemical manufacturing, oil & gas, water & waste water, mining, milling, metal processing, cement & aggregate, and many more. SES and its partners can serve your needs whether they only require a standard pump or something heavy duty that will be exposed to moisture and other harsh conditions.
